Villa Muller, (Prague,Czech Republic); 1930; Modern architecture

The Villa Muller is located in Prague,Czech Republic. The building is designed by Adolf Loos in 1930. The project has appointed by the civil engineer and building contractor Frantisek Müller to design a new house for his family in 1928.
The project has shown Loos’s ideas of economy and functionality, and it has name as an innovative landmark of early modernist architecture.
The spacing has designed in multi-level parts of individual rooms, to show the functions and symbol.
The exterior design of Villa Muller, Adolf Loos has made it white cubic façade to make it shin when the sun irradiates to the house. The fence has set higher because the architect wants to show the exterior to public, but keep the interior space to private. That’s why he designed a grant, and comfortable furniture that made by marble, wood, and silk surface. This method is representing his theory discussion” Ornament and Crime” in 1908.
Adolf Loos separates the private inside and public outside space clearly.As he said” The building should be dumb outside and only reveal wealth inside.”. The exterior of the Villa Muller is cubic shape with flat roof and terraces. The windows aren’t having same dimensions, but same shape. Those openings are paint in yellow color. The façade has painted white color. The white color match with yellow color to show off the elegant of the building, and the Muller’s family.
He made the low first entrance with strong dark colors such as deep green and blue tiles. The cloakroom area has installed a big window with W.C.. However, the window are not installed face to the room directly ,so the natural light isn’t irradiate to the room fully. In the other hand, a short staircase next to anteroom, the shape of the staircase is right angle to take visitors changing their direction to main
hall.
The main hall is a huge double height space cube living area. The place has two windows to shows the natural light in the room. There is a door that connect to the terrace.
The second level has different level staircase to connect to different functions.The Library and Boudoir set in the bottom, and the kitchen is located in the up right corner of the building. Preparation is the connection between kitchen and dining room ,which is set in the up left of kitchen. The dining room is in the upper middle of the building. The opening has set as window to browse the view of main hall. The staircase in the middle of the corridor is connect to third floor.
Guest room, Servant’s room ,bath, two W.C. and man’s wardrobe has set in the bottom of third floor. And the  child’s playroom,child’s bedroom,and woman’s wardrobe hasset in the top of third floor. The main bedroom has set in the middle end of the space ,which is between the woman’s wardrobe and the man’s wardrobe. The staircase which is connecting to the roof and terrace is located the bottom of child’s playroom.


The roof and terrace has set the attic room in the top right corner and summer breakfast room is located in the bottom of the attic room. There is a huge space in the lefty which is the terrace.
