Stuart Jacome Arch 211- M11 Prof. Khorsandi Blog Post Darwin Martin House “Organic architecture seeks superior sense of use and finer sense of comfort, expressed in organic simplicity”- Frank Lloyd Wright. The Darwin Martin House was built in 1960 is located in Buffalo, NY. It is considered one of the largest and most significant commission for Wright. Wright referred to the scheme of this house as a “domestic symphony”. This is because every aspect of the house’s design is unified. The house has a T-shaped plan which is reinforced by the geometry of the leaded glass windows, and custom made furniture. Additionally, there are piers that cover a large portion of the rooms on the first floor which also allow for more windows along the perimeter of the house. The piers not only serve as support, but also combine aesthetic elements. E-1027 ( Roquebrune -Cap-Martin, France) 1926-29   E-1027 is a modernist   villa  in   Roquebrune -Cap-Martin in   France.   It was designed by an I rish   architect and furniture   designer Eileen Gray. She was also considered a pioneer of the modern movement in architecture. The E-1027 is considered her first major work. This is   an open and closed house at the same time,   creating a border between architecture and decoration. The building is an L-shaped and has a flat roof with floor to ceiling windows. The name of the house, E-1027 is a code of Eileen Gray and Jean   Badovici .   E   standing for Eileen, 10 for Jean,  2 for   Badovici , and 7 for gray. The name was her way of showing her relationship with Jean   Badovici   as lovers. Unity Temple (Oak Park,   Illinois): 19 05-1908      Unity Temple was built between 1905 and 1908. It  is a Unitarian church in Oak Park, Illinois. It's also the home of the Unity Temple Congregation. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Frank Lloyd Wright was an American architect, who designed more than 1,000 structures. He believed in designing structures that were in harmony with its environment. He called it organic   architecture. The temple is considered by many architects to be the first modern building in the world.      When the original Unity Church burned down, the Universalist congregation of Oak Park turned to Frank   Lloyd   Wright to design the new structure.
