Fallingwater and icon of American Modern and Organic Architecture. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1936-38. The Koffman family were looking to build a summer retreat home. Fallingwater was commissioned by the Koffman family thanks to their son Edgar Koffman who was an apprentice studying under Wright. Frank Lloyd Wright was known for his Modern architecture and his love for nature. His organic architectural style had a big influence on how the house would be built. Wright was very fortunate to have these clients who were big into arts and always expanding their horizons to new things. This was possible because of their business that they had. As the Koffman family worked in the city it was a great joy for them to return on weekends to a respite away from the bustling city. Fallingwater is one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterpieces that was designed in 1935 for the Edgar Kaufman’s family. The property is located approximately 69 kilometers southeast of Pittsburgh (Wright & Donald 3). Mr. Kaufman commissioned the construction of Fallingwater upon the introduction of Wright to the family by his son. At the time, the son was a student of Wright at his Taliesin Fellowship school. before the commissioning, the family had used Fallingwater as a retreat for about 15 years. When they commissioned its construction, the family had anticipated getting a house that would be detached from the waterfall.  Such an outcome would have ensured that they have the waterfall in their sight. Kisairis Espinal                             Falling water is a very famous house done by the architect Frank Lloyd Wright during 1935 in Pennsylvania 43 miles from Pittsburgh. This house was designed as a weekend home for a family Kaufmann and her husband, Mr. Kaufmann was an owner of the department store. This house was built on a waterfall on the Bear Run in the Mill Run. This is one of Wright’s most beautiful work, this is listed as one of the 28 places to visit before you die. This house was designated as a national historic landmark on 1996. The American Institute of Architects name this project best time best work of American in 2007, it was ranked 29 on the AIA. Mr. Kaufmann was a Pittsburgh businessman and the president of the department store.
