Glienicke Palace,(Berlin, Germany); 1826; Neoclassical

The Schloss Glienicke was the summer residence of Prince Charles of Prussia. This palace is located southwest of Berlin, on the border of Potsdam, near the Glienicke Bridge. Managed by the Foundation of the Palaces and Gardens of Prussia and Berlin-Brandenburg, the palace is located in the park of Glienicke. The central element of a set of architecture, art and important cultural buildings dates from the first half of the nineteenth century. In the year 1990 it was declared a World Heritage Site .

The current classical form is due to the renovations and additions made by the architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel in 1825. After the death of Prince Charles, which took place in 1883, the building quickly went unnoticed. During the Second World War, it served as a military hospital and after the war was over, it was used for a short period for building Red Army offices. From the 1950s, the palace and the annexes were used as a hotel and sports area, and since 1976, as a secondary school. Since the late 1980s, the house houses a museum of furniture designed by Schinkel and other art objects, mostly belonging to Prince Charles.

Architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel

When Prussian Prince Carl returned from his first trip to Berlin, Italy in 1823, the 21-year-old prince decided in the middle of the "Brandenburg Sandbox" that the dream of an Italian villa in the south seemed to be realized.

Grynnik Manor and its lovely Ameadows gently oscillate between the tree-covered hills and Havel, in full accord with the prince's taste. The garden artist Peter Joseph Lenné has created this paradise for former owner Karl August von Hardenberg. But it wasn’t until Prince Prince Carl’s Estate got it.

In the curiosity of Glínik, castles, casinos, big and small, he gave classical sculptures designed by the architect Karl Friedrich Schenker to "build antiques" in perfect proportions of buildings and various ancient arts that they share Contributed to the Prince Carl as a passionate collector, or to shape the southern features of the summer residence.

In the castle, visitors are berankten by decorating the walls of the colonnade with passionflower and whistling wind colonies with ancient sculptures and numerous marble fragments.

The upstairs living room also bears Hinkel's signature without a doubt. The center is the red hall, adjacent to the green salon, turquoise bedroom, marble room and deep blue library. Against the intense color of the walls, the golden frame of the painting shines, the chandelier shines, and the marble fireplace and noble furniture set attractive accents.

In the west wing of the castle, Europe's unique Hofgärtnermuseum is dedicated to the life and work of this industry. Three centuries of exhibits recorded their extensive theoretical and practical skills.
The fountain has set in front of the palace. Two golden lions stands on four small columns opposite others horizontally and the fountain is in the middle. Pure color of bricks, fountain, and the staircase are the significant of Neoclassical Architecture Period.
