Eiffel Tower, (Paris, France); 1887-89; Industrialization

The Eiffel Tower is an iron braces tower located at Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It is a world-famous building and one of the symbols of French culture. It is one of the Paris landmarks and the tallest building in Paris, named after its designer Gusta. Eiffel is a technical masterpiece in the history of world architecture. The Eiffel Tower is also the most visited site in the world.
The Eiffel Tower was built on January 27, 1887 and is divided into the third floor, 57.6 meters, 115.7 meters and 276.1 meters above the ground. There are restaurants on the first and second floors and a viewing platform on the third floor. There also are 1,711 steps from the tower to the top of the tower. They totally spent 7,000 tons of steel, 12,000 metal parts, and 2.5 million rivets. The spectacular tower is a hollow structure with a tower height of 300 meters and a total height of 320 meters.
Hundreds of workers spent two years to install the framework of the iconic lattice tower, which stands nearly 1,000 feet high at the inauguration ceremony in March 1889 and is the tallest structure in the world.
On May 15, 1889, in order to cut the ribbon for the opening ceremony of the World Expo, designer Alexandre Gustave Eiffel personally lifted the French flag to the height of 300 meters above the Eiffel Tower. From this, people commemorated his contribution to France and Paris. In particular, he also created a bronze bust for him under the tower.
The metal construction completed for the World Exposition has maintained the world’s tallest building for 45 years until the appearance of the Chrysler Building in New York.
The Eiffel Tower's structure uses 7,300 metric tons of wrought iron, including non-metallic parts totaling about 10,000 metric tons. Assuming that the density of metal is 7.8 metric tons per cubic meter, the structural iron is melted and laid in a square with a length of 125 meters. The thickness of iron is only about 6 centimeters. It can be seen that the material used is saved. Because the iron expands and shrinks, the shape of the Eiffel Tower will change slightly. The iron on the side of the sun will expand due to heat, and the top of the tower will move 18 cm away from the sun.
The Eiffel Tower is fixed by 2.5 million rivets. The names of 72 French scientists, engineers and other prominent figures are engraved on all four sides of the tower. Gustave Eiffel is here to remember their contributions.
The tower will maintain in every seven years. The materials to maintain the tower includes applying 60 tons of paint every seven years to prevent it from rusting. The tower has been completely repainted at least 19 times since it was built. Lead paint was the main way to paint on the tower until some environmental report showed that lead paint would damage the environment.
