The palace was
started in the 1700s but ended in the 1800s and many people worked on it and
John Nash was one of them. John Nash was an English architect and city planner. During King George IV reign in 1820, John
Nash had to design Buckingham Palace because he wanted to make Buckingham House
as a Palace. Nash was a famous architect in London until he went bankrupt in
1783 and moved to Wales. He did many projects such as Royal Pavilion in
Brighton, St James Park in London before this and he reconstructed Buckingham
House after that. When George IV died in 1830, he decided to finish
constructing Buckingham Palace. Building Buckingham
Palace was one of the most expensive projects and Nash spent more that the
budget he expected. So around 1828, the Prime Minister fired him for over
spending. And Lord Duncannon continued finishing that project.
The scale of the palace is very big. The palace is built
with Baroque architectural style with grand entrance and balconies and stairs.
But in the interior we can observe not only Baroque but also Rocco style. The Grand Staircase inside of the palace shows the Baroque style. The details inside of the palace is very dramatic and we can see them in ceiling, walls, decorations and in furnitures. The
palace has very huge in size and has many bedrooms, bathrooms, staterooms and
doors in it. The River Tyburn run beneath the palace.
When the palace was opened in 1703, the palace has 775 rooms with 52 bedrooms, 19 state rooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms. Buckingham palace is now the face of the United Kingdom for the tourist. Even though it got bombed nine time throughout World War II, the Buckingham Palace stands strong until today.
